Gifts in Islam
Giving and receiving gifts is an important part of the Islamic teachings as love for one's fellow mankind is a foundation of the faith. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) gave and received gifts throughout his blessed life and instructed thus:
"Give gifts and you shall love one another" Bukhari, Adab Al Mufrad
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, "Give gifts and you shall love one another."
In the modern day and age with people leading busy and often stressful lives it becomes easier for the nafs to allow rancour to come between friends and relatives. One of the best ways of making up with someone is to give gifts as the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) has told us:
"Exchange gifts for this will dispel hatred" Muwatta
The gift you give is a statement of how you feel for a particular person. A gift should be meaningful and should be aimed at being beneficial both in this life and the akhira.
Gifts to earn the Pleasure of Allah
People sometimes overlooked in this aspect are often parents, teachers and distant relatives. When was the last time you bought your parents a gift for no reason other then to please Allah?
You don't need a special occasion to give a gift to someone. Any occasion where the pleasure of Allah is sought is a special occasion.
The Dala'il al-Khayrat in the luxurious presentation box will be an enduring gift unrivalled in beauty and unmatched in quality. It will make a powerful statement and be a source of continued pleasure for years to come.
